I need to see what progress has been made in open MRI systems, but I’d see it as a call to INNOVATE.
I’m thinking most of our dear Vikings would not fit into or onto the MRIs in place today…and we certainly aren’t going to ask them to get smaller.
And there are those who, because of paralysis or other medical conditions – or metal halos installed after head trauma – couldn’t fit into those machines if they tried.
I myself rather liked the size of the one at the U of M (and it came equipped with earphones and tapes of Led Zeppelin’s first two albums, to boot), but see the need to develop open MRI tables.
